Default Too much torque.....

lol

My car has so much torque (yeah right) the DP bracket broke.

All the weight of the exhaust was supported by the DP. I guess it was too heavy for the DP so it cracked. (sorry the picture suck)

So this morning I was on my way to my friend garage to get it fixed when all of a sudden it broke on the highway. Let me tell you it was F$%&^& loud. I only had about ~6" of exhaust after the turbo where it broke. The rest of my DP and exhaust was only supported by the two support in the back.

I made it to the the garage without getting pulled over by the boys in blue.

Unfortunatly I didn't have my camera with me to take pictures of my nice custom 2.5" downpipe broke in half.

All that because a stupid bracket couldn't handle the "Vtec, oh **** that's fast".

Are all your motor mounts intact? A 50hp engine will crack that bracket if one of your engine mounts is busted.

The DP should never be welded on like that. Theres just too much vibration goin on in there so its no surprise that it broke. It should be held on rubber hangers like the way your muffler hangs on. Plus without flex pipe is not gonna help.

40 pounds of torque will snap steel if nothing "gives". It looks like you have no flexpipe and had the bracket welded directly to the body. Unless you have solid motor mounts, I don't see how it would have lasted very long at all.

Well it lasted a year and a half.

Thanks for the input. I'll try to get in touch with my friend and ask him to mount it correctly.
