I would say thats a little high...

You really need to worry more about what the timing is at at peak torque for the motor/setup, not redline...and if its detonating or not (hopefully).

Whats the timing at 5800 rpms?

Get it on a dyno...start conservative and add timing slowly while always pulling plugs.

Do a lot of reading and research too. Have the right tools for the job...

There are many more...but I dont have time to work on my book tonight

i was running around 13* at 6000 and about 17 at 8000, never had issues. im sure it could have made more power, but i opted to be safer.

what gas were you running out of my curiosity

the higher the rpm goes, the timing should advance?

we have 91 octane here..
xenocron u say add timing slowly,do u mean add it in the retard per pound of boost...or in the cells it self?

I set it to 1* of retard per pound of boost. Make sure everything's straight then go by the cells. It's tedious without a dnyo. I don't mess with timing much, basically just get everything to flow well.

Generally I set it at a standard linear retard and keep the fuel in line. I try different linear and stepped retard settings first and then fine tune from there once reasonably close.

Unfortunately its hard to make proper timing changes without a dyno.
