Tial BOV compressor surge
Ok I have the Tial BOV and I had the standard spring in it (silver, 11psi?).
At low boost if I was slow off the throttle (accelerating in gear, but let off slower than I would during a normal WOT shift) I would get some compressor surge.
So I swapped in the black 7psi BOV spring, and the surge is gone... but it really feels like I loose "too much" boost between shifts. Letting off the throttle at all seems to release 100% of the pressure in the system, and the turbo has to re-spool up. While the BOV acts "more" like it should surge-wise, I don't think I am happy with the "boost response".
What springs are you running in your Tial BOVs? Seems like I need an 8psi spring... heh.

Re: Tial BOV compressor surge (dustin)
Geoff @ Fullrace suggested that I go back to the old spring and run -6 line directly from the IM to the BOV, ditching the banjo fitting. I'm gonna try this.

Another thing to try is either shortening you vacuum line or using a length of hard line with short vacuum lines on each end. -

Re: Tial BOV compressor surge (yehiknowrite)
Mine was great in Washington but now that I moved to Colorado it flutters like crazy. iIf you get the 7 psi spring it will most likely be pulled open at idle. I tried that spring but it didn't work too well when I had a maf. It also made a loud click from being pulled open so hard when I would start crank the car. The 9 is the way to go.

i use a 7psi spring in the bov... yea it is loose and gets pulled open really easy, but i dont see how that would hurt the performance by any means. If anything, you are pretty much guaranteed that you will never get compressor surge.

Re: Tial BOV compressor surge (J337_UNIT)
All I know is that the car seems slower in day-to-day driving... I lose soo much boost between shifts that I get to experience turbo lag in every gear. I am gonna put the 11psi spring back in and see how it acts with the new pressure source (I have the PCV source on the top of the IM going straight to the BOV now).
I'd rather have the light compressor surge than have the car act like it does now.

Ok I put the 11psi spring back in and am using a dedicated line off the top of the intake manifold (where the PCV used to get vacuum from) to the Tial BOV. Still using the Banjo fitting... but it got rid of 90% of the "surge". I am happy with the way it acts now... This BOV just needs boatloads of vacuum to work right.
