Default Throwing a Code.. HELP!!

Guys I'm throwing a code 22 (VTEC System Circuit Malfunction) at 100mph+. I've changed my oil to a higher running wieght, threw in a new pressure sensor, and taken out my VAFCII. Still after 100mph it falls on it's face and pops out of VTEC. It doesn't matter if I'm in 4th or 5th BTW....

Anyone have any idea's? Or what I can test to see where VTEC is messing up? I'm guessing it's electrical, but I'm not 100% sure? The car is running 5 PSI, tured by Intec Racing on a E-Manage, If that helps?

What do you think about me taking off the VTEC In/Out wires on the E-Manage and running it like that to see if it's the unit itself? Help..

yeah that code has nothing to do with your oil pressure sender, or iol weight.

yes it is possible that if the vafc had some of the vtec wiring going to it, then you could have screwed with that.

basically just check the wires coming from your vtec solenoid.. make sure they're good allt he way to the ecu, theres 3 of em

Thanks Tad.. I'll check those in the morning. It's just GHEY that my car rips to 100-110mph then PFFTTTT! On it's face. I was thinking maybe my solenoid too if the wires are good?? Ehh?

One more question. If my solenoid wasn't wired in correctly how would VTEC engage or work 1st - 3rd, THEN incounter problems in 4th & 5th @ 100mph+ ?

On a non chipped ecu does it matter if the vss isnt working properly for the vtec to work right? I know with my Hondata setup, my VSS is always acting up, and it doesnt effect my vtec at all.

How would my VSS pop my car out of VTEC @ 100mph? That has nothing to do with my VTEC system, or does it?

So "If" it is my VSS how do I test for this? Certain volts at idle or something?

maybe you can barrow one from a friend to test. Also coolant temp sensor has something to do with vtec also

A Coolent Temp. Sensor? Damn there's another thing.. What's this have to do with the operation of VTEC? Radiator Rockers?

I believe vtec doesn't engage unless the temps are up to a certain level. but if your only having problems at over 100mph, I would try another vss

I'm not sure if this will matter, but I forgot to mention that my clutch was slipping. I just replaced it with a Exedy Stage 3 disk/pressure plate/flywheel. I don't know how this would effect my VTEC engaging or not, so I have to wait a for a few days to run her @ WOT and see if that was it.

On testing the VSS, do I just check for resistance between the prongs of the unit itself?

For the ECU to engaged the VTEC system, many things have to be met.

They are (might be many others)

VTEC solenoid detected
VTP sensor shows enough oil pressure
RPM (Varies)
Throttle (Varies)
Engine Coolant Temp (mostly above 170)
Vehicle Speed (mostly above 20mph)
Throwing most CEL's will not engage VTEC

Oh ya, try to post in the right section next time.

Well my friend, this section is the only one I could get any feed back.. so nernie nernie Anyways, just got the clutch broke in, so I'm going to run her tomorrow to see if the clutch had anything to do with it?? If not, I'm back to the drawing board.

But thanks to all who have tried to help me, I really appreciate it. I'm thinking it might be the VSS though.. Being it's speed related?
