Default Thicker headgasket or OEM

Im shooting for around 300 whp with my B18C5 stock internal t3/t04 build. Would you suggest ARP headstuds and a thicker Cometic gasket or ARP headstuds and a OEM headgasket? Keep in mind my B18C5 is around 11:1 comp. My builder seems to think thicker gasket is a must. But I don't want it to be a turd out of boost, I wanna still have a little power out of boost. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. Maybe even a headgasket that just bumps the comp down a little bit just for a little more room for error while tuning. Im planning on having Tempest tune the car for me when its done being assembled. Thanks in advance

youd have power out of boost with a 9:1 CR... im scared to run more than 8 pounds on my h22a which is 10.5:1 and is closed deck. thicker HG means a more likely chance of you blowing the gasket and with boost it can happen easily. you need to lower your compression the right way and buy pistons.

i said something easlier about larger washers on your spark plugs... even backing it out a tiny bit will make a difference.

if your going to do headstuds and daily drive the car i would lower the compression a little bit down to mid 10's with a headgasket, if you dont its not a big deal but your tune has to be spot on

Originally I told Joe at Tempest I wanted to run it the way it sits right now. No Arp's no thick gasket, just a stock B18C5. He said he could tune it to around 300 whp bone stock with my turbo setup, Hondata S300 RC 750's. But I just want a little more reliability. So I opted to do the headstuds. So naturally I gotta do a headgasket anyway. So that is where Im stuck, what headgasket?

thats the kinda answer I was looking for. What headgasket you suggest, how thick to get me down in the 10:1 area?

there really is no need if joe is tuning your car and only tuning it to 300whp, stick with oem headgasket

So ARP headstuds and OEM gasket? Wouldn't a little bit thicker Cometic HG be the safer way to go? Just trying to make up my mind, Im about to order the HG. Maybe I should ask him again what he thinks

Just leave it as is and go with the 300 hp tune. 300 hp on the street is more than enough to get into trouble ...
