Default thicker head gasket help

My son and I are repairing his boosted 95 Civic. He ordered pistons, but they are slightly highter compression than factory, so he determined that he needed a thicker head gasket to lower the compression a bit. What thickness is factory? What thickness should he get? What else may be affected by this... what about the timing belt? We are planning on doing this ourselves, so I want to get all the info I can before we start screwing things up...

I bellieve that they are 9.2:1. Is that higher than factory? Is it worth adding a thicker gasket?
