Default Are thicker gaskets bad news?

On some possibly bad advice from a builder, I had 10:1 Arias pistons installed in a 450whp H22 CX daily driver. I'd like to get away from race gas, or just use less. I picked up a head gasket that should lower compression to 9.6:1. Are thicker headgaskets problematic @ 18-20 lbs., if you do it right? (prep block and head surfaces and use ARP head bolts)
