Default axles on FI? what are you guys running?

once my motor is finished i plan to go to the strip again, however i'm going to borrow two R-comps from a friend who autocrosses and use those. i'm worried i might snap an axle if i get it to hook up nice. anyone snapping axle's on 300whp with slicks?

preload before launching and you should be fine on stock. If you want to not worry about axles look into some DSS axles. Earl has pretty good pricing on them.

DSS axles cannot substitue for proper launching.

Ive seen a guy snap 3 sets of DSS stage 5s. He learned to preload and boom, great luck ever since.

I preload on my DSS stage 2s and never had a problem.

On the other had I witnessed a Stock GSR swapped hatch dump the clutch off the line at 6k and snapped a DSS stage 2.

you have to learn it.
burnout.
clutch out till it starts to lurch, rip e brake. hold it back
stage with the ebrake holding the car back, thats preloaded. at this point once it is staged, i put it on the 2 step with the clutch still kinda engaged......
this is hell on the clutch but it tends to keep the life on axles. unless you are running gators like i am then they break for no reason anyway.

dss stage 5's coming soon, but so is 700+ i hope.

i see so basically, you let out the clutch a bit until the car starts to pull foward, however the car won't move because the e-brake is holding you back so you won't redlight. then let go of the ebrake and release the clutch.

When i launch i hold it at 6800-7000rpm with ebrake off, then just as the light goes green, i ride the clutch for a split second untill the car just rolls maybe an inch.. Then i just let off the clutch.. Same way basically take off from a stoplight when you ride the clutch and roll away, just much faster and more agressive. I pretty much just dump the clutch but not like quick.. I dont rev it up and just bang pop the clutch, kinda ride it, but really quick. I dont have LSD eaither, so that dosent help with axle life. Hard to explain what i do.

Im running gator stage 2's using MT slicks at 7psi 22x8x13, my 60fts are usually 1.8. Just get good traction bars and stiff suspention helps put power to the ground too. Im only at around 230whp im assuming.. Not really going that fast. But its just my 02.

I am on stock axles for over 2 years boosted with about 30+ runs at the track.

I have never once pre-loaded my car.

5500rpm two step on a drag radial, slightly slipping the clutch...

honestly, id want to make my axles the weakest link in my drivetrain, for they are the cheapest and easiest to replace.

that said, ive been running the same autozone oe replacement axles for at least 35k boosted miles, with around 200-250ftlbs and a few dozen launches at the track on radials. **** is still together

After snapping a stock shaft I installed 4 pairs of autozone remanufactured axles all of which made my car shake bad under accelleration. Supposedly because they don't reman/balance them for ****. Finally exchanged them and paid the difference for autozone new (not reman) axles and it runs fine , haven't broke one yet but if I do they have a lifetime warranty

right now i am on the msd 2 step. getting 7-8 psi. but since i am on 15" slicks till i ditch the 5 lug, it has been working.

but with the 13"s and yes i am goin aem with the t1 trigger, i am hoping for 15 psi on the launch.

atleast a 6al, and a 2 step module, pills if you want to use them, i use an rpm selector. external coil is not manditory, but it is a plus when making higher power.
