Default Testing turbo?

I just bought a supposedly rebuilt t3/t4 turbo and now that i got it, it seems like there is a small bit of slop in the shaft. To try and test the seals and bearings I made a plate for the oil outlet side of the turbo and filled it up with oil. then I put about 50 lbs of pressure into the other end and turned the shaft. After about 5 minutes oil came oozinf out of the exhaust housing. Is this an effective way of testing to see if the turbo is good? Thanks

Sounds like you've got some bad seals, as for the shaft play there should be a very very small amout less than 1/8 inch. Try this site it will better explain how to test for excessive shaft play http://home.istar.ca/~dvandit/faqs.htm
try this site as well http://www.specialstage.com/tech/dsm/dsmtech3.shtml
