Default Test Pipes

i did a search on the topic because i have been welding up test pipes for friends for a few weeks now....so i was going to see weither or not anyone on here would be interested...

so i saw Testpipe.com, checked them out, and i cant beleive they have a 02 bung on there test pipes....that is dumb....the reason is on an ob2 car the 2nd 02 reads weither or not the cat is working or not, and if you have a test pipe in there then you have NO cat soo its just going to throw a code, what we do here is no to put a bung in at all. Just hang the send 02 into the air secured to something on the car so it doesnt drag on the ground. Just as long as the 02 reads a flat line it will not code.

im amazed that a muffler shop doesnt think this is a problem....2 have the second 02 in the test pipe....

Specs on the 2nd 02 are that it doesnt affect air/fuel ratio or anything else with the running of the car it only check to see if the cat is working

well im still thinking of making test pipes...

i have done my car and 2 type r's (one with 2.5 inch piping on an turbo N1 exhaust systme, the other with 2.25 inch piping on a greddy exhuast )and few other random cars.....

so im thinking of starting with those....

let me know if anyone is interested then i will see if i want to start making them

I believe that the way in which the second o2 sensor checks for proper operation of the cat is by comparing the signal to the first o2 sensor. THe #1 o2 sensor voltage should oscillate around 0.5 volts in closed loop. I think the second one also oscillates it just does so with a smaller peak to peak amplitude. Reason being the temperature drop after the gases go through the cat decreases the voltage output of the o2 sensor.

A free air dangling #2 o2 sensor won't oscillate.

we are talking about this right now....

but the whole point of this post is, why would you want to repipe an 02 mean to check and make sure the cat is working, and if you have a testpipe the cat is no longer there....so you code for no reason at all, or a reason but one you can avoid in my eyes....because if you do take the sensor out so it doesnt code you will have to put a bolt in the hole so it doesnt leak
