im thinking about getting one. how bad will it smell and will my rear bumper start to get black due to the no cat? what are the chances of a cop pulling me over for a test pipe? do they actual check you for having a cat?

 

keep your cat and dont feel bad about not making the 1-2hp a test pipe may give you

 

taking the cat off and replacing it with test pipe causes noticeable difference... i can vouch because i have done it... tho, yes, it smells worse. it's not horrible, but there is a different smell to it. the difference between a high flow cat and a test pipe would probably only be a couple horses at best, but from stock cat to test pipe resulted in my civic being barely able to chirp second gear, to being able to spin them just a tad into second... i can't give a horsepower difference, but being that my driving probably didn't vastly improve between test pipe and cat i'd say its a difference... anyway... as far as cops pulling u over for a test pipe? no... i don't know laws of other states, but i dont think a cop will be able to tell if u have a test pipe or a cat unless he jacks the car up...

i noticed alot when i first installed it, i was expecting a ricey sound but sounds really good, sounds like it's breathing better everytime i shift

i would go with it, unless it's going to be your DD and not looking to build your motor then no

Well for "arguments sake" lets say that’s right if your talking about a virgin ECU BUT and this is important here IF you have a ECU that runs something like &lt;crome&gt; or hondata and on and on with the brands that statement NO longer is true! Because your tuning the car for the modifications and personally if you are bolting or changing anything on your engine and with no plans for a tune then too me it is nothing more then a waste of money!

BUT having said all of that WE should all run our cat converters because not only morally BUT legally you know our 4 cylinder cars are going to kill the environment and we all know how environmentally friendly the diesel trucks, school buses and power stations are sooooo environmentally friendly right!

Test pipes are a newish hype, that everyone thinks makes hp,
along with the ******* single runner IMs on stock motors.


Probably 98% of the people putting on a testpipe have a STOCK motor,
and think they will be getting 5-10 hp probably, cause the cat is SO restrictive on a STOCK motor.

Don't get me wrong though, sure on a high hp, or forced induction motor, it Will,
nor am I some tree hugger, I just think it's pointless to even bother on stockers.

Especially when half the people asking about it live in CA too, for ***** sake eh..

LOL nothing is wrong with imports in Fresno in fact there are a lot of very fast cars in Fresno it is the '50' they just love too expletive with imports! That’s the point I was driving at sorry if any offence was taken!
