Default T4 turbo

which one out of the T4 series turbos has the least amount of turbo lag? Like for instance the T04e and TO4b, which of these has the least amount of lag? I dunno any a/r sizes or anything like that, but please feel free to list a good combination. One that i heard that is good for a h22 is .48/.63 this on a TO4e
I am trying to boost my h22 and still deciding on the size turbo to use. i have been told by many people from a 16g to a T3 to a T3 super 60, T3/T4 hybrid, straight T4 all these would be good for the h22. I narrowed it down to the straight T4 series and I wanted to know which out of the To4e and TO4b has the less lag.

The compressor has nothing to to with boost lag..... That is all dictated by the Turbine side of the turbocharger... The flow of the engine combined with boost pressure to be used will determine the compressor wheel annd housing to use. If you are using this car on the street a t3 turbine will be better.... I would guess.... T3/t4 46 or 54 trim with a stge 2 or 3 turbine wheel.... A/r somewhere around .63 this is a pretty genaric turbo.....

Umm, not really. The compressor A/R directly affects its ability to flow at a given turbine speed. Larger A/R the compressor will not flow as much at lower shaft rpms... but will flow better up high. It's the same as the turbine side but it is active not reactive. You know this. The combination creates "lag" which IMO is a misnomer.

Also, the amount of "lag" depends on the specific specs of the turbo and the flow rate of the motor. We cannot make generalizations regarding the "lag" of a turbo setup relative to every configuration.

T4 turbo... stand alone engine management system... not a bad way to spend $10,000...

Hahaha. Hey dustin, my friend was telling me that the drag manifold is really poorly designed so that it takes longer to spool than a rev hard. Any truth to this? I really dont see anything wrong w/ mine.

thats bs. the drag manifold is not gonna cause a turbo to spool up longer.

I agree with both dustin and n02nsx, both the compressor and turbine both determine how much lag a setup will have. BUT a majority of the lag is determined by the size of the Turbine A/R. To a smaller extent lag can be "controlled" by the compressor by getting a BB and I forget whatelse. That was out of "Maximum Boost".

My observation is, the compressor can only turn as fast as the turbine. so the "sooner" or "later" your compressor fan starts spinning at full boost is determined by the size of your turbine....or something.

ok does anybody here have a t3/t4e or a t3/t4b or a straight t4b or straight t4e? If so around when do you hit boost? I was told that t4b is more linear whereas the t4e comes on a lil later, but when it comes on it has a spike in power and around that time you really need to hold on. i believe that is with straight t4e & t4b. i dunno, but has anyone experienced that?
