Default T3/T4 rebuild kits

Who's used a kit somewhat like this to rebuild a Garrett T3/T04E? I'm blowing blue and pretty sure it's the turbo. Anyone have pics or a how-to, or comments on the worth of trying this myself? Thanks

that one is nice.. comes with the heat shield. i sat there and cleaned mine for hours scraping away the built up burnt oil. lol

i did buy an ebay kit. i had problems with the exhaust piston ring. it was way tight when trying to assemble the turbo back together. i ended up bending the piston ring and tehn when i tired to bend it back the piston ring broke in half.

so then i was forced to use my old piston ring (which keep in mind was smoking real bad at idle). well i wasnt careful removing the old piston ring since i had a kit so the old one was bent from quickly removal. the old piston ring did bend back but there was a kink in it now and isnt truly round.

the turbo actually stopped smokign at idle but now smokes at higher rpm mainly second gear is when i notice it. not bad for using an old piston ring that smoked before.

moral of the story...the parts will work but they are cheaply made with cheap materials. one bend and the most important part of the kit breaks? cmon! who cares about teh nuts and screws and the mounting brackets.

i ended up buying another kit because i really dont care. if the car lasts for another year is really all i need until i get rid of it

Get it from them. I have bought a few from ebay sellers and they worked, but included a tons of parts I didn't need, no tech whateoever and rude customer service.

My last kit was from Gpop and I could not be happier with the parts, price and especially the support on the phone. They advised me to actually buy fewer parts than I asked and that advice was 100% correct once I took it all apart. Save your self the the trouble and give them your business.
