Default T3/60-1 v. T3/GT40

I'm still deciding between the pre-fab kit and the homemade kit and I wanted to compare numbers and things like that.

The Full-Race stage 2 kit comes with a T3/60-1 turbo with a few different A/R ratio's to choose from, while I was suggested the T3/GT40 from another member through PM.

What would be the differences between the two turbo's as far as powerband and power created at the same amount of boost? I am only intending to push 10-12 psi through my b20/vtec setup.

Any help is appreciated.

well for starters...
the 60-1 is an old design...
when i say old, i mean very very old...
its not the most effecient compressor wheel out there...
its a great low boost turbo..
its pretty comfortable at lower boost levels.
now that doesnt mean you cant crank the boost up and make big power...
quite a few guys are making pretty nutty power on this dinosour...

the gt40 compressor on the other hand is an awesome compressor wheel for high boost applications... 20-35psi and your in the comfort zone when it comes to effeciency...
ill do a few plots for you starting from about 5k rpm because thats about when you will be seeing a good amount of boost...

the SC61 or the ITS gts61 is basicly a t3/gt40...
its all in what your goals are...
you asking what is better doesnt do anyone any good... cant really make a good suggestion until you provide more information.

now i didnt put a ton of time in this map...
but this will give you an idea at what this thing is doing at 15psi...
im not saying you will be at 15psi at 4k... but like i said... its to give you an idea...

Ok, here's a little more info on the setup.

B20z short block with stock pistons and rods
Golden Eagle HG
Arp Head studs and Rod Bolts
GSR head w/ 3 angle valve job
Skunk 2 Manifold
GSR transmission
Exedy clutch and Fidanza lightweight flywheel

The manifold I plan on using is the CRP ram horn equal length manifold which can be found at this link: http://www.crpturbo.com/ramhorn.html. 3 in. downpipe and 3 in. catback exhaust will be used, with a front mount intercooler, tial 38mm wg, 650cc injectors and 255lp fuel pump tuned on Hondata S200b or Apex'i Power FC.

The internals will be stock for the moment, because I don't know how much I can run boost wise on stock internals. Does anyone know the boost limits of a stock internal b20?

Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming.

ok i saw your signature so i figured b16...
alright well with the b-20 that compressor map above is garbage...
so ill do another one based on the 2.0L
id say def go with the sc61 or gts61...
screw the 60-1 man...
just an opinion

the gt40 is essentially the new 60-1 wheel. What is interesting is that garrett has even come up with a new 60-1 wheel. Im guessing its becuase people keep buying that wheel over the gt35R wheel, so they made a new higher efficiency 60-1 wheel.

it reallly makes such a small difference now, but i would still prefer the 6 bladed gt40 "61" wheel.
