T3 .42/.48 vs. t3/t04e 50trim for 250whp D16?
I have a d16z6 coupe with a bone stock engine. I have been putting together a list of components to turbocharge this car over the winter. First and foremost this is not going to be a high horse power car. I am looking to make in the 225-250hp range with as linear a power band as possible. IE: I dont want 100hp at 5000rpms and 300 at 6800.
This is why I have been leaning towards the .42/.48 T3 60trim. My only concern is that it might be too small and maxing out for my goals. So im on the fence right now between this turbo and a t3/to4e 50trim .63 a/r. Anyone have experience with either turbo and can push me in the right direction?

that turbo will work if that is all you are looking for. anything more than 250 and an upgrade will be needed

A little more information on the set-up that I have together so far.
-Spoolin Performance Quick4 manifold
-3" Spoolin Performance Downpipe
-Tial 38mm Wastegate (10PSI)
-27X6.5X3.5 intercooler
-Delphi 440CC/Pump
-Tuning with Chrome or Ectune
Here are some maps that Ive been looking at. Seems the 60trim is the better choice Im just afraid of it falling on its face..

i'm rockin a T3super60, pretty sure its a .63 tho, on my stock F22. makin 250hp/275lb-ft @ 10psi. but since your engine is .7L smaller, i think a .48 will suit your motor quite nicely.
just look at this graph

One of my concerns is evident in your dyno plot, seems like the turbo is falling off after 5.5k rpms, were you losing boost? Is it the "Super" 60 or is it a true 60-1 turbo?

nahh it was holdin 10lb's the entire time. but stock F22, its not like i really bring it up past 6K anyway. yea, itsa true Super60, not 60-1. but i gotta tell you, compared to my old t3/t4 on my old H23, this thing is 100000 times more fun on the street. so much tq down low its not even funny.
but this is also 2.5" DP -> STOCK cat -> WS2 exhaust. who knows how much more i would get with 3" all the way back.
this is the comp map as well:

you can always use a good electronic boost controller to create an artificial torque curve, adjust the boost in the higher RPMs to keep the torque curve flat.

My friend had a .60/.63 stg1 60trim (not super60) on his B16 - made 250whp with 9psi, and had full boost before 4k. Thats a very wide powerband...
My forged D16Z6 has a similar turbo, a t3/t04b s-trim (37lb/min vs 36) w/.48ar stg1 turbine. I don't have power figures yet, but I get 10psi just before 4k with a 3" exhaust ending before the gas tank. My smaller turbo (50trim T3, 31lb/min) made 10psi by the same RPM with stock cat & b-pipe + tenzo-crap axle back.
You may need a bit more than 10psi, but I can assure you the stock Z6 can take it. My other stock Z6 took 10psi with the S-trim, but anything more would push coolant (due to reused HG + head bolts!!). It was fun breaking the tires loose halfway through 1st and 2nd when I didn't launch it.

Re: T3 .42/.48 "Super" 60 too small for 250whp? (HiProfile)
Ive read a couple threads of people running the .42/.48 at 12-14psi to achieve 250hp, seems like a lot of psi to push those numbers. I know its a small turbo but its got to be pumping out some high IAT's.
Would the .63 t3/t04e 50trim be a better choice and achieve the same numbers with lower boost? I want to get this project going, ive just been stuck trying to decide which turbo to go with.
t3/t04e .63a/r vs. t3 .42/.48
