T25 could mean so many different turbos though.....it would be hard to say one or the other unless you had a specific T25 turbine housing turbo in mind to comare to the 14b. There are general T25 turbos and DSM specific T25 turbos. The general Garrett T25 flange can host anything from the smallest spec T25 turbo to a larger hybrid such as the Disco Potato.
IMO, just about anything is an improvement over a DSM 14b and "anything" is an improvement over a DSM T25.

If I absolutely had to choose between the two... I would go with a 14b, because there is less of a tendancy for the torque to fall off at higher RPMs...

Look at dyno graphs of both of these turbos, the peak torque is normally reached at about 3000-4000 and then falls off from there...

If that's what you want, then go for it.

P.S. I'm not ragging on either of these turbos, many people have them and love them! I'm just saying, take a look at the torque curves... you have to decide whether you want low end torque or top end torque...

You are thinking about the DSM t25, which is smaller than the 14B. Im sure a Nissan T25 would be a diff story.

For whatever its worth, i have a DSM t25 and it is great on my 1.5 sohc. I hit 8psi around 3400rpm.. i dont run the engine up very high so im not concerned with the power drop-off

14b , I have one on my z6 and have been very happy with the power, and it spools pretty quick.

Be as careful as you can be when buying from an unknown party. I bought a 14b turbo from a thread on HMT with supposedly "absolutely no shaft play" but the one I got had a disgusting amount. AR Fabrication told me it was totally shot, exhaust housing and all.

14b all the way, that damn dsm t25 spools even while doing bumper to bumper traffic. also it might be hard to find 14b in good condition for under $100 bucks, maybe a t25 or 13 but def not a 14b, i got my 14b for $200 but this turbo had no shaft play at all.if you still havent found one within a month i might have mines for sale cause im planning on a new well over 300hp setup

14B hands down
i have oen and love it
got plenty power all the way up to my 7500 redline

anyways... i payed 300 for rebuilding one that costed me 26 bucks on ebay
i say its worth for a home made setup

many dsm people locally have gone into 11's with it and making 400 hp.. and making like 21psi off these thing.... i dont think they are that bad fi they can do that
