Default t04e on a h22

would this be a good choice? im new at the turbo ****. i was originally thinking a t3/t4, but that is cause it gets the most att. i figure w/the bigger h22,(bored to 89 mm) that this was a good choice. it is a ball bearing one, so i figure lag shouldn't be too bad. i was also wondering about what the max psi/hp level's i can expect from it

What kind of power are you looking at producing? If this is a street car and you are only looking at producing 350-375 hp, then I woudl suggest the following:

.63 A/R
Stage III

.60 A/R
60 Trim

If you want 400-500 hp go with the following specs:

.82 A/R
Stage III

.60 A/R
60 Trim

t04e ball bearing, super t04e compressor 50 trim wheel, t3 exhaust turbine stage 2 48 trim...is this too small? he said it was good for 450 hp...

When would either one of these two turbos begin to spool on the H22?

it spools around 3500-4000 for full boost, currently its putting down 330whp at 14psi.

That is way to small for a 2.2L. You shoudl at least get a .63 A/R turbine housing with a Stage III Turbine.

The .48 A/r is rated to 400 hp and below with any Stage wheel with maybe the exception of the stage 5. TurbochargedSER is right you should be starting with the .63 A/r on a 2.2l. As far as what stage wheel to use in this, I don’t know if id personally go with the stage 3 for street but you do want to use it for track to so it's a toss up. I think 450 is obtainable with a .63 and a standard wheel but that’s just my $.02.

Sorry, but a .48 A/R housing *WON'T* support 400 hp. They die out about 250-275 hp.

Billy T's vw 1.8l 20valve turbo .48 exhaust a/r stage 5 wheel 404.8 Whp off N20. Should have an article in next months SCC. Dont know how up to date this article will be. Yes we are talkinga 2.2l here and That would be a little harder to obtain with the .48 A/r . The point is we agree he sould go with the .63 A/r.

i say and .48 turbine can make good whp on a 1.6 or 1.8 in the low end mid power but not up top all it takes is a lot of boost to make hp

But on a h22 it wont make power past vtec i see it done many times
ill get a .82 if i had a h22

i can say that TurbochargedSER do under estimate i lot of turbo sizes

Actually we are talking about my turbo here. If it dies out around 250-275, why is it putting out 330whp on only 14psi on my application? Its rated at 400hp.
