Swain or Jet Hot
Has anybody had there manifold coated by Swain or Jet Hot? Is one better than the other? I want to have my manifold coated before i install it. Some of my friends have painted theres and that doesn't hold up long. I want the coating to help with heat and to keep it from turning brown and rusty. Thanks for any info.
i paid about 450 bucks to get my exhaust housing, manifold and downpipe coated by swain. in about 2 months the coating on the manifold started cracking. it was "supposed" to be the best stuff...so much thicker than everything else, blah blah blah. i never called them about it becasue right about that time i had bigger problems, mainly craked ring lands, and i got kinda distracted by it.
That really sucks!! I hear a lot of people use Jet hot but i've neer talked to anybody that has used Swain. I'm glad you mentioned that. Has anybody had any other expieriances with either coatings?
If you want the best coating out there, send it to HPC for their extreme heat coating process only available at the Oklahoma plant. Email them and talk to Brian- he has helped me twice now with my turbo, DP, and manifold coatings- a nice guy. Manifold is like $350 to get coated, $$70 a foot for the DP, and like $125 for the turbine coating. Go to yahoo and type in "HPC coating"- you should get their website easily that way.
I got my manifold Jet Hot coated black and have had no problems with it cracking on anything like that so far so good . I think it is nice better than that rusty brownish look .

I've had my manifold coated by Swain. Looks good, decently priced and no cracking or any problems - i've had it for over a year.
I've used jet-hot and it works great. I'm going to have my new setup coated by them.
They're not far from us either, in Bridgeport (near norristown).
