jackson racing makes a kit my friend runs a 13.6 with intake header and exhaust on his b16 on street tires but i would recomend retrofitting the vortech civic si kit onto your car it is for the b16a2 motor but im sure it would bolt up fine

If you seriously look into running the Vortech, you should be smacked upside the head. A proper turbo will easily make more usable power than the Vortech, their compressor size basically rolls all the downsides of a supercharger setup and a turbo into one without giving any of the benefits. Now if their compressor was about half the size it is, maybe, but a 500hp centrifugal does NOT belong on a 1.6L motor when it's crank driven.

no i would go vortech it can support up too 575 horsepower the sport compact car si made 272 hp and 181 pounds of torque at the wheels. it doesnt make boost well down low but a 1.6L doesnt make power down low any way. if you are dead set on supercharging this is the way to go.

If you're dead set on a Vortech, you have issues. I'd NEVER supercharge the B16 anyway, but I just hate the Vortech product. It's a perfect example of a domestic manufacturer making a half *** attempt at a real import product. They could have made a much smaller compressor that would work well, but instead they just adapted their V5 to the job (which is much more at home on a large V6).
Vortech = $4000 for the aftercooled kit
Rev Hard = $3200 for the Stage 2 kit
The Rev Hard system will eat the Vortech setup for lunch for $800 less. Upgrade to the 2C and you will be in the mid 11's with the proper setup. It's really no contest.

If you are gonna supercharge it go JRSC no question. I hate the Vortech, its such a terrible blower, meant for a large v6 or even v8. Its almost like puttin a t4 or somethin on a midly modded 1.6L. Go turbo or JRSC if your heart is set on supercharging it.

That is one isolated incident. I had a vacuum leak in my blower when I first got it, it wasnt Jacksons fault, it happend during shipping. Without any questions asked they sent me a whole new blower WITH a free 8lb pulley. I have had my kit on for over 10k now and it runs flawlessly. I know of several other people with JRSC'd cars and they have had no problems either. There is always gonna be a bad egg in the bunch, dont let it discourage you from purchasing a great system.

Well...what are his power goals? I think that is the most important thing to see here. From there, we will be able to advise you of which route to take..

to be honest, hes building a car that he wants to take to shows. so i know he wants sumpthin fast so its not all show an no go, but i think he wants something semi-easily managable that will have a decent power output. not sure if he wants the best thing out there or not. right now his current set up is a 90 crx si with a jdm 1st generation b16a. its in tru colors right now getting all of its fun exterior goodies put on an painted.

Well...the JRSC will give him a little more power...nothing that bolt ons and headwork won't do though. It's not all that impressive. A turbo, however, will give him all of the power he wants, and more...dependant upon other factors such as fuel, etc...And...an intercooler is ALWAYS a nice addition to ANY show car. Stay away from the Vortech though.
