Default Suggestions Needed: Comparing Borg-Warner S366, S366SX-E & S360 Cast wheel turbos

hello!

Currently running a borg warner s360 (177272) and in need of replacement. I attempted the rebuild kit with 360* washer but the unit still leaks oil.
The factory says 8-10 weeks out to get a CHRA unit shipped.

I am looking at the borg warner (177275) since it is alot cheaper (BorgWarner S366 S300SX S300SX3 T4 Turbo 177281 177275 - Mike Turbo) , I am wondering what the differences would be between the two.

Note: this is on an undivided housing (open) t4 setup.

Big difference in power between the S360 and S366. ( I remember working on a lot of those 10 years ago, before Full-Race and diesel turbo repair shops dipped their beak into these) Those units are easily capable of about 800whp. It's much more of a top-end work horse than anything subtle on the street. You were already "light-switch" power to begin with; on a S366, you'll be fighting to control the car even more than you are now.
You're going to have to completely retune, just so that you're aware of it. that compressor is much different than what you had previously.

However, if this is becoming more of a drag-race purpose car, you're going in the right direction (considering that you're using a top-mount exhaust manifold anyway )

The exhaust wheels I believe are the same for most of the S366 models using an 80mm inducer, so the CHRA should go right in, if you bought the right model.

Here's the standard map for the cast compressor wheel- The same $560 "box" Unit you're looking at:

Here's the S366SX-E compressor map for the upgraded Billet compressor wheel. Turbine wheel is still the same as the standard model.

Does the S362 or 63 make more sense for a car that will driven on the street regularly?

Built 2.0
R Cams
Top Mount
600+ Goal

I guess thats a dumb question cuz they a smaller than the S366. But maybe you have some personal experience on a specific sweet spot.

60mm inducer s300 come at smaller turbine wheel. The 66mm has the 80mm wheel. You cannot use the existing turbine housing.
But you can get the new billet supercores:
13009097056 exd 83.47/ ind 61.5mm
or 13009097006 exd 87.37 / ind 63mm
or 13009097008 exd 87.37 / ind 65mm
that use the same turbine wheel with yours. Id do that instead of getting a chra that need to be machined or a full turbo but older.
I think the 62mm billet will spool almost the same with yours.

You're talking the "box unit" S300s, which have a choice of 70mm, 74mm or 80mm exhaust wheels. The S366 lines come with the standard 80mm. ( I used to have ton of those in parts many moons ago when I dealt with those on a regular basis. The shafts could interchange within the CHRA.)

IMHO, they (362,363,366) all spool late for 600whp for some street purpose. But I'd you must stay within that line, the smaller, the better (for street). It's all about purpose.
