Default street and drag turbo choice

ive got a 92 civic with B18c block, eagle rods, SRP piston 9.0:1,b16a head, gsr cams, type r IM,gsr trans, BRMS ram horn manifold and i am trying to find the right turbo for my street and drag car!! I would like to get 350+whp and later on crank it up to 450whp or so! So big question , which turbo would be best for me? Precision 6262 82A/R?? lett me know guys thx

For the power level that you are wanting, the 6262 will be too BIG sir. The 6262 is capable of making 700whp. What is your budget for a turbo? Please let us know how much you are willing to spend on just the turbo alone and then we can help you better.

what fuels do you plan on running for each? 91, 93 octane? Higher octane for the 450whp ? Is that 450whp ++? meaning up to 600whp? For your budget, most quality turbos are going to be close to the $900 range whether or not they are "billet wheel", which in your case won't make the difference in efficient power use.

Fuels... tell us which fuel types you plan to use.

On 94 octane and if 450whp is all you want, this is the turbo that I recommend.

The water meth kit will only help you sir, so of course you should.

I am kind of bias as I also have a turbo made by STC. Also you can get the Silver Surfer with a water cooled cartridge which I highly recommend. You can get everything you need including coolant line kit, oil feed kit, and oil drain kit right from B&R Fittings.

You aren't going to be very competitive at drag racing with a sub 500hp car, unless you're talking about street racing which is just stupid

A good turbo with a street power band will be useless for a drag car.... it will really take two turbos to accomplish both of your goals or just pick one purpose for the car.

I would stay away from precision, as far as possible. I've seen too many units fail that they refuse to warranty/repair/replace because they always claim oil contamination, even on cars I know have inline filters on the turbo feed line

Maybe I should start an anti-precision club lol

NICE company for Meth/water. Nothing wrong with that at all. you can even change the percentage a bit to 80/20. With 94 octane, lots of good knock resistant fuel.

Man isn't that the truth!!! Yeah I had bad experiences with there 6262 model. First the seals blew out, then the turbo stopped making boost. It was making 8 psi @ 6k rpm lol. All of this with a brand new turbo under 3000 miles give or take!!! The only positive thing I can say about Precision is that the second time around they did replace the whole center section. So far no issues to date, then again my car has only been running for the past month or so.

A borg warner s256 would be ideal for that power range. A bunch of us have recently switched over to borg warner for several reasons and have had nothing but great luck with them.
