stock tranny upgrades for 550 whp? whats recommended?
i will be running a pt-71 with about 18-22 psi. assuming that will be around 500whp. i am running a b16 tranny with quiafe, tilton twin disc, custom axle, cv joints, hubs. i know that the weakest part of my car will be the tranny. is there anything i can do besides the quiafe or is 500 whp on a stock tranny actually not as bad as it sounds?

Yes, stock tranny will be fine. Driver plays a big role in the life of one so don't bang every gear, preload, and just use your head and it will last. Don't expect to get 100k miles out of one and plan on investing in a spare in the near future just in case because the tranny was after all made to handle 100ft/lbs of TQ

i would imagine you would be making more power with that turbo....either way my car made arund 600 and after a full season the trans is still picture perfect. same with my stock axles ive been using for over 2 years

haha, id be happy with 500 whp i guess i should say. all i plan to do is run 18-22 psi. with the tec3r system i plan to purchase from you. i was just wondering if the stock tranny with quaife (and i do preload already) will last at least a full season. i already have a spare tranny, just need to get a quaife in that one also.
any other information is helpful. also, i know the rest of my setup plays a huge roll but with the pt-71 at 18-22 psi, what should i be looking for.

I have never blow a tranny from a launch so pre-loading never helped me at all, I blew the ring/pinion and intermediate shaft on 2-3shift before and i forget what else I broke on 2-3 before.

anyone using the phantom grip mainshaft-countershaft cuffs?
i heard these are a little bit of insurance on the stock tranny once you get to be making 700-800 whp.

You can always cryo dip (sp?) (freeze them pretty much) your gears and appropriate parts. It i'll strengthen them, some ppl seem to have success with that.
