stock LS vs Single cam vtec boosted
what would be better to boost a stock LS motor or a stock 1.5 single cam vtec ?
i was thinking about swaping an LS into my hatch but i have a single -V in there now. i wanted to know which one would be better to boost and why ?

Im going to say LS for the fact that I now have a LS boosted. But when the time comes again (and it will come soon) that I pick up a 92-95 civic, im for sure going to boost the SOHC and not "waste" my money on the B.
Sure the b is nice, but I know some pretty decent sohc with ALOT less money than my swap/turbo setup that can keep up decent.
Hell the main reason I want to boost the SOHC is you can get complete longblocks under $500, vitara pistons very cheap (may not be the best, but hell im gonna rock them) everything is cheaper, no need to swap all the crap...just less headache

single cams can easily make over 400 but do whatever you want its your money and your car.

I was actually debating this not even a week ago. I have been a D series lover for years now but I all of a sudden wanted to motor swap. I thought about it, looked around and put WTB ads up on this site. Then I started talking to a good friend of mine and he convinced me that the d series can be made to get major power. Hell I just saw a dyno yesterday on here, 400+hp on vitras, stock head and IM.
Needless to say, Im going to stay D series. Unless you lookning for crazy numbers (i.e. 550+) then stay d series. Or you could be the one to go on the limb and break the HP records for single cams. 400whp is not to uncommon for them anymore.

thats the thing, you dont need that much power in a little civic to go fast. Unless your building an allout drag car and want to run 9's. All thats going to do is make you spin your tires more, thus you not going anywhere and the 200 hp all motor guy leaves you in the dust
I mean ya its cool to read about "i just dynoed my car at 450hp!!!!" but what you dont hear is the "i also just ran a 13.8 at the track"
But on topic, like said above it really just depends how much you are able spend. if you got deep pockets go with the slightly more potentional ls. Or if you have maybe $2g's to work with, go with a d and a homemade turbo

on a budget? if you're not gonna build the motor go w/ the ls. it can handle some beating. otherwise build the sohc and have some fun. sohc ftw! whats the difference between 11 sec boosted sohc and 11 boosted dohc? the sohc setup probably costed lesser and has one less cam to brag about. if i ever decide to build a car, it be powered by a boosted sohc. n/a on the other hand, go w/ dohc.
