I believe you can break axles at stock power

Yes you can break axles at stock power...so any added power puts them more at risk..

like everyone said, stock power could break one but most seem to start snapping them around the 300 whp mark, I'm around 280 whp right now, with gsr axles, If I get slicks, I'm sure I'll break on sooner or later.

hmm interesting. iv never really researched replacement axles. What are some good replacement (without going overboard). that can handle around 300-400whp.

433 WHP on pump gas, and my street tires are 225/50/15 BFG drag radials. I drive this car HARD, and have put over 15 thousand miles on it at 433 WHP. Only axles ive broke are at the strip, I snapped 2 while I was running 24.5/8.5/15 slicks with a LOT more boost than when I made 433 WHP.

Stock autozone GSR replacement axles, should have mentioned that. When/If they break again I'm going to use my awesome lifetime warranty and get another set.

some guys have run 10s on stock axles, some break them at stock hp levels. It's all about how easy or hard you are on the car.

i would say its all in the launch, if you baby it out of the hole than there is less of a shock load on the drivetrain and then they might not break as easy, i have had some hard launches at 370ish whp and i thought they where done for shure on my 6500 clutch dump with slicks

A lot of people say they can handle a lot of power, but what breaks the is the wheel hop!

yea, traction bars will help eliminate the wheel hop. Gator Axles makes a nice cheap upgrade to stock.
