this is going to be my first time going FI. Im just curious as to what kind of numbers i'll be looking at if i use a drag kit on stock b16. And how reliable will the motor be if i keep it under 10psi at all times?

Depends on how healthy your engine is, if the cams are out of synch from engine being decked/milled, etc. There is no set number, but 220 whp should be the lower end of good/expected power at 10 psi.

"Keeping it under 10 psi" is safe if you have a stock MAP. "Keeping it under 10 psi" is safe only if you have a good tune. There's a lot of stuff involved in safety and the psi you run doesn't matter so much if the tuning is good - within limits, of course.

One of the local guys is "keeping it under 18 psi" for safety on his 150K mile stock LS with big 16G, he should be sitting right at the 300 whp mark. It won't last for terribly long at that power level, but it'll last for a good while based on how it's fared the last two weeks.

You could probably piece yourself together a decent used kit cheaper then buying a brand new drag kit. I have pretty much a drag kit, just ditched the FMU and went with hondata and a In tank Walbro. Tuned of the 7psi wastegate spring. I made 233hp/154 tq. I am happy with it, but I am probably gonna upgrade motor and turbo kit in the next year(looking for more power)

Drag kits are good quality, but there are better bang for the buck solutions that are quality... those solutions require you to do more work and know more. Is that something you are interested in?

Buy a beater car so you don't have to depend on your turbo car, especially if you are learning off your turbo car.

Read a lot. Half HMT for bare-bones functionality and half HT for flossing setups is what I recommend, then split the difference based on your power goal.

Refer to service literature for all wiring and wrenching, a Helms manual is > all others, and will steer you right.

Think about something before you ask a Q here, so you ask Qs that mean something and you can actually learn from.

A stock daily driver is important.

Understand that you can't always ask the good Q's until the car is apart and in pieces and you're going to have to let it sit for a couple days (sometimes) before you get the information you need.

Accept that you will mess something up, and be consoled by the fact you'll learn from it. Half of life is ******* up and the other half is dealing with it.

I can not express the need for a daily driver enough.

if you dont care about a/c i would go with the peakboost turbo kit for 2799....they are made of good quality. Get the injectors,fuel pump and so on so forth and then get a good ECU and GREAT TUNE and you could prob hope for 280whp on about 8-10psi. just my opinion im learning to good luck
