Default Starting to research for b18c or c5 turbo build, need some help and advice...

I have been doing some reading in this forum and the archives. I want to fully build a USDM or JDM motor for boost. My goals are 350-400whp. I have been reading over what cams, rods, pistons, sleeves, turbo, size injectors, etc. etc. would work best. I as hoping that some of you turbo gurus in here could help and direct me in the right way to go with this project. I am not planning on building this myself. But I would like learn as much as I can through this projuect.

A few questions I have are what combination of sleeves, pistons, rods, internals, and turbo would you guys recommend for this motor?

Any reputable shops around SO CAL you would recommend for 3 or 5 angle job, block boring to 84mm or 85mm, and port and polish?

What type of electronic managment would work best with this setup?(I hear so many great things about hondata)

I am looking for a dry block and head right now. I have seen many on ebay, both JDM and USDM. I am not concerned with it being JDM or USDM, seeing great results in both motors. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a block and head to start a build on. I saw the Spoon B series engine assembly on inlinefour.com but I am not sure about that $6300 price tag.

I appreciate any help and guidance you guys can offer . -Shawn

search. many many many topics.

why spend extra on jdm motor when your going to replace the pistons aways.

If I had money this would be my setup.

B18c1 Block
Benson Sleeves
CP 9.0 pistons
Thick headgasket to lower comp to 8.8 or so.
Manley/Crower/Full Race rods
===================

Turbo kit

Full race or lovefab manifold
Turbo - depends on power goals.
PWR or Precision Intercooler.
HKS BOV.

AEM EMS or Hondata

I am going with a Precision SC61 for my 500hp winter project. Only downside is that it doesnt seem to be the quickest spooling turbo out there. However, with it you can boost to 400whp whenever you want, and when you are feeling saucy it'll take you for a ride to 450-500whp (assuming proper engine building and tuning of course).

I would recommend checking out http://www.ef-1.com. Rocket is well know in the car world for his up and coming products. I plan to use his turbo rods with CP pistons and his ef-1 valvetrain and cams.

Manifold and downpipe will no doubt be lovefab pieces. Cody is the man when it comes to this.

Im new to this world of turbo too, but after my research this is the best ive found for the money.

Hope I helped some,

-Nick-

Perhaps a smaller Precision turbo? PM Arturbo... he'll hook you up with the turbo to meet your needs.
