Standalone tunning?
I will have a 01 GSR w/ Drag III. I was looking at hondata stage 2 or 3 and I'll nee an obd I ecu, but my problem is that I'll need a dealer of hondata or someone w/ stage 4 setup to tune my system. I live in Lancaster PA and there are no hondata dealers even close to me!! Is there another system that I can have tuned easier. I only plan on running stock 8-9 psi until I have $$ for internals. Should I go w/ something else instead of standalone for now? I was thinking of running 310 injectors for now.

Save your money then...you don't need a stand alone for 8-9psi at all. My friend was running 12psi on 310cc injectors, a Cartech FMU, Walbro pump, and stock ecu on his 99 Integra. I also did the same with my Prelude. Good luck, but I would wait and just get the stand alone when you are ready to build the block. Who knows, by that time there may be something better out on the market.

well to me it sounds like you have future plans for the car. are you positive you'll only boost to 8-9 PSI? cause you say you plan on building the internals when you get the money I'm just wondering if you woud be tempted to raise the boost in the future.
a complete Hondata 4 setup is close to $2000-2500, I would ask around though about the boost limit for GSR internals, AND ALSO at what limits DRAG's Fuel mgmt system will work, I've heard you dont want to go higher than 9 PSI with a RR/BD FPR or AIC. these two can be made to work above 10 PSI but they're prone to detonation and failures AND even if they did work your fuel wont be fully optimimized. Personnally I would upgrade to a complete standalone above 9 PSI.

Re: Standalone tunning? (BlueShadow)
Okay, what I plan on doing is just running the regular 9spi for now because most people dont' go over 12psi on stock internals. Maybe next summer I plan on doing internal(sleeves, pistons, rods). So, I"m just thinking I might save money by getting a stanalone system now. There's a guy around where I live that runs the Apexi power fc and he said he'd help me set it up plus I believe it's under 1,000. Or the new aem unit is like 1,300 and supposed to be 100%plug and play. Plus if I get a standalone now I can just get bigger injectors like 550's now instead of having to get 310's and upgrading later on. What do you guys think?
