Default Standalone/Piggybacks/Engine Management Questions???

I am interested in something else then hondata. Does anyone have any other choices: Dfi, Speedpro, halteck, motec, microtech. What do people think of those that I just mentioned. I am willing to spend between $1000-1500.00. Can someone also list some links and some ups and downs, and whose running what. Also how easy is it to manage and tune.

AEM EMS is just plain bad ***, but to be honest i dont have the time to tinker with it so im going to run hondata 4b. haltech is pretty bad ***, motec is expensive as HELL, and EFI PMS is pretty good from the things ive heard..... i was also told that speedpro is similar to the haltech but its cheaper and has a few more options i believe. aem ems is plug and your ready to go, hondata is pretty much the same thing but it isnt a replacement ecu like the aem is. haltech... well youll be running a bunch of wires and what not, speed pro is similar i THINK.

Haltech works very fine for me. I can not compare it to other standalones, but you don't have to **** with numbers in the fuelk and ignition table like with Hondata. The Haltech is easier to tune IMO. You have the lines for each rpm, fuel, etc just to move up or move down.

When I have to do it again, I would buy Haltech again.

Do you make the programming yourself? When not, then buy the brand which your tuner knows best of.

..did I forget to say that Link products tend to be a lot cheaper than the other alternatives? Their top-of-the range unit matches the features/funtions of the higher-end motec/haltech/autronic systems for much less..

but for a daily-driven honda.. my link ecu was cheaper than a 4b hondata, and was plug'n'play, and the ECU didn't need to be opened up and have a rom changed everytime you re-tuned the car like a hondata does. Also didn't require a laptop to be tuned either (laptop optional, car can be tuned perfectly with a Link plug-in Keypad - my cars were tuned with the keypad).

I don't know.. go for whatever you feel. I've seen the other systems, and think that Link does the job well just as well, if not better, than the others for a cheaper price. I'm quite sure that sooner or later Link products will become very popular.. they're already widely used over in Australia and New Zealand, and are becoming increasingly popular in Asia.. still young in the US though, since only Mazda people in america know about the Link products.
