well i've used the SST chips before, so this is why all of a sudden i was surprised. I did defrag the hard drive as I've had strange *** romulator issues lately too, so i decided to clean up the laptop. I'm going to go out and try to mess with it tonight. maybe it will just work today, i'll probably buy a stack of new chips as well. I tend just to keep them around for when people call wanting a new chip and can't afford the downtime of sending me thier chip.

I own the Batronix 4.0 Eprom Burner that is hooked up to my desktop. I love this burner, as it will burn just about any chit you have, but I have problems with burning the SST chips??? it asks me to move 1 jumper, So I do, then it asks me to move it back, I do, then it goes to burn and gets going and then stops, or finishes and I get a CEL.. So I use my Burn1.
I had at 1 time a bad USB wire, and chips would burn fine, (so I thought), but then had issues with them not working right.. Anyhoo.

Just go and spend $85 to get Moates Burn1 and forget that problem.

Joe....I'm in for the step by step tutor on burning a SST27SF512 chip using USB Batronix Programmer...

Could you shed some light for Batronix users like myself since you have many success burning them.

Can't thank you enough.

tried everything again tonight, none of the SST work at all, although i burned a customer supplied SST 2 weeks ago with no problem, i think that these SST are just junk. I retried burning my personal atmel chip and no issue what so ever.

soo i bought 12 atmel chips and bought a burn1 from moates.com as well. if it turns out the SST chips work, then I know my PP2 is crapping out, if it doesn't work, then i have an extra chip burner that's alot smaller than my current one.

got the burn1 in today, went to burn the SST chips and they burn perfectly... so looks like my PP2 just hates me.

I got the SST27SF512 to work with my USB Batronix Prog now...Craig Moates was really helpful explaining the steps....

I'm going to stick with the SST27SF512...easier to find than the atmel chips

We were chipping an ecu(that had previously been chipped) using Hondata S300. We stripped it of the old parts and put all the chips that came with the Hondata package. when we hooked it up, there was a constant red light, so we checked and rechecked the solder points; they were excellent.
But the culprit, we think is the HC373 latch. Strange we thought cause we were using the one that came with the Hondata kit.
When we put the original latch back in, green light all the way everything worked fine. Good thing this ecu had the hc373 socketed so it can be replaced?
The one sent in the packaging from hondata was new, so it should have worked properly?

I post this cause the HC373 is a latch which allows access to external memory which you guys that chip would be dealing with, so just something to look out for...
