Squires Turbo Systems
I stumbled upon this site http://ststurbo.com/ after going through it i was quite preplexed. Has anyone ever ran a turbo at the rear of the car on a honda. In theory it could be quite interesting.
Checking out the videos of the tundra and the z-71, its pretty bad ***.
Any thoughts on this type of setup?

You dont think the intake charge would be cool? Well at least if this is not good for an import, would this be good for a truck?

That has to be one of the stupidest designs EVER. There is no point to putting the turbo way back there when we have all that space under the hood infront of the motor. The only reason i can think of to put it all the way back there is for stealth....but then you prolly will still have a FMIC which blows that right out of the water.
I couldnt imagine the lag with 20 feet of piping. And running oil lines from the engine all the way to the back of the car and back is just stupid.
Maybe im just a hater, but looks really dumb to me.

another problem is that the other kits are in the 3800-4k range.
what would you rather have, a full race stage 2 kit that is proven to make 350-400whp on a stock block or a kit that can handle 5-8ish psi and maybe hit 300whp.
and the kit isnt even proven at all.
alot of the **** they say on their site is total b.s.

Im a skeptic too, but it is an interesting design. I dont believe there is a FMIC, the long pipes act as an intercooler, supposedly everything stays alot cooler.

This is prolly true - however id think a good FMIC would work better.

Unceasing Measure
It works on fullsize trucks and V8 sportscars because of the amount of heat and exhaust gas they create with all their displacement. Smaller cube engines would have a hard time making power with so much exhaust and charge piping separating the turbo and engine, I'd think.
Good idea for bigger engines, bad idea for Hondas.

I'm not for rerar mounted turbos either but you have to understand these kits are made for cars were no other kits are available. Yeah, for a civic you can just hit up any online performance store and find a turbo kit. No problem!! Go out and find a turbo kit for an LT1 or LS1. There are probably just a handfull of companies that sell them and they are probably right around twice the price of STS. And looking under the engine bay of an Fbody and you can see why not too many companies have attempted to even try. And when you look at the dyno results, you will see lag is no problem. Power starts under 3K. With an all stock LT1 motor, some people are pushing over 500rwhp on only 8psi. The LS1 is still very new but I have seen them do over 600rwhp with a rear mount. Again, I'm against the rear mount turbos, but there is proof out there that they can make power and lots of it.

its says you dont have to run lines, they have some "special" way to oil it i guess?

Maybe this is a race only type of setup? Or maybe they will design some sort of splash shield. I think it is still prototype.

That has got to be the dumbest designs. You do have enough room and puttin in all that piping just causes more lag. Also if you go over a bumb or anything that would occupy that space without the turbo, it would ruin your $4000 piece of ****. Not worth it.

no, no prototyoe, thats the retail kit. they did an article in turbo magazine on them a couple months ago. i'll search through my massive stack (couple hundred) of magazines and see if i can find it.

The import kit on their site is just a prototype... Joe wants to have it on his car for a while to work out any problems... I think he's had it on there for almost a year now.
The first honda they put their system on was a CRX...
The system works really well on trucks and Camaros because there is not much room under the hood... but I don't know if it will ever catch on with imports...
Their shop is right near where I live and I go over there every once in a while to see the guys and to pick up random parts for my own turbo project.
They are going to keep researching and hopefully there will be an import kit available soon, but who knows....
Their systems absolutely kick *** on trucks though I was so surprised the first time I pulled up next to their Toyota truck and heard the turbo spoolin! It's soo much louder outside of the engine bay!

If i had a truck i would definitley get one of these systems. I guess the jury is still out on the car aspect of it.

It's not a bad idea but it'll work better with a bigger displacing engine like a V8 where space is limited under the engine bay. On a 4 cylinder, this is a bad idea. Too much lag and too much piping.
