Re: Spun A bearing (DBallz)
Bump for me but I'll give some back ground to this.
I have a 00' Si with a rebuilt factory block. My block is all L/C. So I waz running my man at 8psi. Once we hit 125-130 his car(WRX) started to peak I was still pulling I must have past him at 145-150. I started to back off close to redline (I know I'm a jerk for pulling so hard in 5th but I was at 8psi) then he said he say something pop out my exhaust after that I knew I was screwed. But I think my bearings fused together because I was running 5w-30 close to my 2k mile oil change. Do you think by looking at those pic that my bearings fried?

Did your radio tv monitor say "danger to manifold" too?
I know I really hate it when something pops out of my exhaust....damn, thats the worst man.
Damn, you gotta watch out for that 2001 mile mark on the 5w30...that'll fuze your bearings together every time

Spun bearing most of the time is either low oil or too loose a tollerance on bearings during the buildup of the motor. You said it was factory rebuilt? I would tend to think that you might have dealt with a shitty dealership to do any engine work.....maybe not, but I would start looking at that option first.
By the way, pics no workie for me.

Well no what I meant was the motor was rebuilt with L/C pistons and eagle rods but no over bore or anything like that.
So now seeing all the images what do you think?

oh ya those are fine. It should buff right out. On a side note, are you really serious when you asked us if we think the bearings are shot?

Oh I know the bearings are shot I'm more worried about the crank right now!! What do you think I will have to do with that? I hope I can reuse it

Re: Spun A bearing (DBallz)
take your fingernail to it and go across the crank. if your finger catches in a groove, then thats not good. Only a machine shop will be able to look at it and see if it is fixable. Most likely you will need oversized bearings.

Re: Spun A bearing (DBallz)
Aight well here is the newest update. I spoke to my tech and he told me that I was going to need a new crankshaft, new rod bearings, new oil pump, and new gaskets. And because I’m pretty much broke I have no idea of when I’m going to be able to pick up my car. I did give them $500 buck for a deposit to start working and ordering parts as needed.
How much more do you guys think this is going to cost me?

Re: (B18Flip)
I would really grind the motor builders ***** and ask if he even took specs on the bearings when installed. Are all the bearings like that? Maybe you needed to have the block align bored and the builder overlooked this. Theres also a proper way that the rods have to be installed as well.....there is a front and back to them--but i doubt if installed backwards it would eat bearings like that.

Re: (93LSivic)
Well I have an update:
Yo what up people I should be back on the road by next weekend hopefully if everything works out the way I’m planning. Right now the total on the Repair order is at 2583.66. So what does that include well: New oil pump, new ring set, full gasket set, New b16 crankshaft w bearings, and one eagle rod (might be able to reuse the original one but not sure yet). Then add 1100 for labor. Now some of these things are covered under warranty but I won’t find out till Monday. Sucks huh. Oh well.
