spark plugs go bad with a quickness but look ok.
I start getting misfires and skips every couple months and every time i do i replace the spark plugs. This fixes the skips and misfires even though the plugs i pull out are only a couple months old and look fine. and then sure enough a couple months later the skips come back. what could be happening?
i have a d16z6 with a greddy kit. I run a msd ignition, coil, cap and wires and i use regular platinum ngk or denso plugs. I was running one step colder but thought maybe they weren't getting hot enough to clean themselves so i went back to stock tempature but that didn't help. I also tried decreaseing the gap from stock but that did nothing either.
Could running to rich be killing the plugs but they look ok when i remove them because they got cleaned while the car idled? but then again if they got cleaned during idle wouldn't they run ok again.

don't need platinums. may as well run cheaper coppers if you're constantly replacing them....everyone else does. what gap u running?

Don't worry about gettin copper or platinum etc.. It would be a waste of money with your setup. One of two things You could be running too much gap and the slightest bit of wear puts you over the edge, or you're runing too rich and fouling the plugs over time.

a set of platnum NGKs is like $5 so the money isn't an issue. and the plugs fix the more obvious problem of the misfire but the hidden problem is whats causing my plugs to foul. i've tried different heat ranges and smaller gaps and that doesn't work so it's something other then the actual plugs.
I'm pretty sure i'm running on the rich side. Can a plug be fouled from running rich but still look clean and normal when it's pulled out or would it be covered in black ash?

My guess is your running too rich and fouling the plugs over time.
your running stock gap? Boost is probably blowing out the spark.

Yup, it can be ruined and still look normal.

i have run everything from the stock 1.1mm down to like .7mm and it doesn't seem to make a difference. what would you reccomend for the gap? I have seen people say .32 -.30 but that seems ultra tiny like sheet of paper small. Unless they meant to put .032 - .030 inches.(which is right about .7mm)
