This sounds a little fishy to me... what do you guys think?
I just recieved an e-mail back from the guy who initially tuned my car, Roger Lavine from Podium Performance. He said, "keep us from 200+ no matter how much you want to see it unless we run very high boost.". So because I have an automatic trans I will never see hp numbers of 200 whp? WTF. Is this true?
Is this also true, "I'm telling you right now that dyno jet dynos are inflated by at least 25 hp.@ 200 HP". He has a mobile dyno and he is telling me this ****.
Please help. I don't want to get my car retuned if I'm never going to hit 200 whp anyway.

I think the guy is talking out his ***, you could make 200hp+ on an auto trans. You might break parts faster and your times might be a little slower, but I dont see any reason why your transmission keep you under 200hp, unless it just cant hold that kind of power......ever thought of a manual trans swap??

Thought about it but I decided not to. I'm getting mine rebuild by a guy I know. It will be able to support somewhere around 300 whp which is plenty for me. I would like to have a manual transmission but it's going to cost me around $2,000 dollars plus I would have to upgrade the clutch and stuff like that so it made more sense for me to get another automatic for a little less money.

I spoke with these people too. I was thinking about having them tune my car. I made up my mind that I DIDNT want them to tune my car after about a whole 3 minutes of talking to him. They cant tune to save their lives I dont think. Hondata should realize this, but for some reason they are still listed as a hondata tuner.

I reported them to Hondata. I told them my situation and they said they would look into it.
Originally when I talked with them, they told me it would only take a maximum of 2 hours to tune my system... I should have known then that they were idiots.
Please listen to my warning, do not make the same mistake I did by going to Podium Performance. All of my tuning (when my trans is back it) will be done by Gruvytune only.

AFter my 3" goes on and I hopefully break into the 14's at the track I'd like to goto the dyno. Only because I wanna dyno the auto HP/TQ before I swap.
(already bought a LS tranny, just need 900 other parts and to get it done so it will be a while still)

Honda automatic trannys have a 30% loss in hp. You would have to make almost 300 hp crank to get 200 whp. Manual trannys only have a 15% loss. thats why most peeps switch over.

OK, I assumed he was talking out his *** because he was using a mobile dyno and I figured that a dynojet would be more accurate.

Yeah im pretty sure. Lets take a stock auto 98 civic ex. Has 127 hp flywheel, Dynos at 89 hp. A 5spd car will dyno at about 110 if you do the math its about 15% and 30%. So figure if you made 275 flywheel youd make about 195 whp.
