Something making A Funny Noise
Well got my 92 civic ex 4 door with a nice LS Swap in it. Tial WG, 550cc Injectors, Tial BOV etc . . . . I can't seem to get boost at all. I got 7psi which is what spring is in the WG one time on the highway and that was it.
Something is making a weird noise though like as if air was being blown on a bottle, or another way of describing it would be sounds like a "OWL"
We Tried disconnecting the WG and still no positive pressure. Turbo spools as we can feel air being sucked it, sometimes the turbo stops spinning at idle though, but when u bring the oil pressure or rpms up just a little it will start spinning.
When I first had my stuff on my car I was able to hear the BOV flutter so I knew it was getting pressure, but now it doesn't even do that so what could the problem be.
My piping is all welded together so it's only 2 pieces . . . kinda hard to believe air is leaking some place. I got 4 couplers . . .
1 off the turbo
1 on the intercooler driver side
1 on the intercooler passenger side
1 on the tintake manifold
running out of ideas as to why I saw boost one time and never again. I am running uberdata as far as fuel managment goes. Someone please help me get boosted . . . tonight is the last race of the year and I wanted to clock my car so hopefully I can get this resolved.

If there are no leaks, then it has to be the turbo. Unless the wastagate is open (I'm sure you'd be able to hear it) then it's the turbo.
umm From the description, It diffinitely sound like a leak. I am awared that you said there are no leak but if the BOV work before and is not working now and you also heard the air sound. Maybe take off all the intercooler piping and check those.
well got bad news . . . . we checked everything and I mean everything tonight. We even pulled off the intercooler piping and well we can feel suction through the intercooler and the turbo blows air and sucks in air good. We took off the compressor housing to find that the blades were hitting on the inside of the housing, and the shaft is warped.
Mind you this turbo has no more then 30 miles on it, and was baught from "TURBO CALCULATOR" the turbo has a 6 month warranty, they are not answering my phone calls, not returning my messages, and not returning my e-mails.
They have ripped me off basically . . . . . . i'm out $460 and got nothing to show for it. They performed false advertisment becuase it was suppose to be a Garrett Turbo and when I called to complain about it they then changed the wording on their webiste to say Garrett Spec so yeah I am pretty pissed. Anyone know what I can do to get a refund?
I got my credit card company working on investigating this and gona try to reverse the charges.
If anyone else has experienced bad with "TURBO CALCULATOR" please post up, I want to get some evidence behind me. I got a friend that I talked to who had spoke up and told me after 90 miles on the same exact turbo his seals blew out so he's on his 2nd turbo in which he had his fins scraping as well do to the lack of balancing the turbo properly
This company blows and is selling crap everyone BEWARE. I'm thinking of calling Garrett to let them know they got people wrecking their name and claiming to sell their products and in turn are sending out junk Generic EBAY TURBOS

wtf? You can get an excellent turbo for $460, especially if he thought it was a garret.

You think you're so smart because you are one year older than me huh? j/k y0!
technically, he said it had less than 30 miles on it, not that it was brand new. If you cant tell I'm being sarcastic and have realized the point by now!
ps- is it expensive to get parts shipped out to you?

Well he basically was bitching about being ripped off and he bought it from Turbo Calculator w/6 month warranty and theyre not returning calls blah blah, so I pretty much assumed it was a new turbo.
Is shipping expensive? YES. Fed Ex or UPS for something such as a T3 turbo from CA is roughly $80-$100. A set of 15" wheels maybe $180-$200. Something as small as a set of piston rings, at least $20.

The turbo was brand new in the box . . . . . it was suppose to be a Garrett Turbo because in the item description that is what it said, but after I received the package it said Garrett Spec, so I already had a feeling what it was. It was that XYZ or XY Ebay BS Turbo. Now I figured ok well i'm gona be boosting in a couple days so **** I didn't want to send it back and have them make me pay for shipping there and back so I just ended up keeping it. I didn't find out any problems until I actually used it. I drove the car with the turbo on from the shop home out of boost since I had only my stock injectors in.
The turbo has less then 30 miles on it, the fins are hitting the compressor housing, and ontop of that the center shaft is warped as we found out lastnight.
TURBO CALCULATOR is refusing to return my phone calls, and my e-mails now. They did tell me it had a 6 month warranty and that they would ensureI had a new turbo right away, but when I asked who is paying for shipping since this turbo should not have broke that fast they stopped responding to my e-mails and phone calls. I have called and left numerous messages since everytime I call I get their voicemail, but nobody calls me back.
Anyone have any ideas? Like I mentioned if anyone has had experience with these turbos please chime in
