that noise you hear comes from built up pressure in the charge pipes, when you shift or the rpm's drop the pshhhh sound you hear is the valve taking excess pressure out of the charge pipe so the turbo doesn't have to spool down then respool, saving time and gaining speed for your car, the reason the evo sounds like it may blow off at lower rpms is b/c of the boost its running at and the setting the BOV is set to open up at

It does, u just have to wind it higher...

All turbo systems have a BOV to make that sound and releave pressure on the charge pipe...if they dont the charge air will force the butterfly open and u'll face problems of a fluttering butterfly :-\

why would you want it to? to show off? theres no reason to go into boost while youre in nuetral besides that.

Um, no. Some turbocharged engines have diverter valves and some older turbo cars had nothing. BOVs are used to prevent compressor surge, they have nothing to due with forcing butterflies.

Well obviously it will force the throttle body butterfly open, but that doesn't happen untill you reach 32.64 psi.

Not all blow off valves are the same... also, in neutral? I've never heard my turbo spool in neutral. So I don't even know if the BOV will even go off in Neutral.

You have a boost gauge? Ever tried revving the **** out of your motor while in neutral? You'll notice you're not even boosting.

I dont believe it is good for the turbo to spool so much in a non-load situation...

think of a blow off valve as a huge boost leak........the louder you blow the more pressure your letting go......if you loosen up the nut on top of your blow off valve it will release more air.....if u tighten it you realese at a faster rate shorter sound but louder.........also when u releasse the throttle in nuetral you have to let go of the gas real quick other wise it will blow off slow and you probably wont hear it

you need load to create boost.

evos blow off because they have load and create boost when you rev them up. this is because of all the accessories that run of the engine and create load.

Your turbo honda maybe not have enough load to create the boost when free revving. This could be because the lack of accessories, or size of the turbo charger.

yep because it can create a little boost with the small load in neutral when you rev. It takes a lot less flow and pressure differential to spool a little turbo like that.

However changing to a smaller turbo so you can rev and blow off is the most ricer **** in the world. If you want to look cool and not loose power, upgrade to a larger motor lol

fuking ricers

hahaha, yea, a Blow Off Valve is there to make a cool sound and its secondary feature is to not damage your turbo. LOL

I used to own a turbo jetta and kept diverter valve and relocated it deeper down intake tract to get rid of the noise....

The butterfly flutter is compressor surge, the fins on the turbo being spun backwards due to excess pressure not relieved in pipes. bascially rejected air fromt he throttle body back through.

Now do you hear the bov when driving
