what i do with a new engine, and i did last night when a engine we dropped in a car is the following.
1. remove all spark plugs, so the engine cna crank faster.
2. ensure oil is full
3. remove feed line
4. get a cup
5. crank car over with starter (it took about 30-45 seconds to have oil come from the feed line
6. fill oil back up
7. attach feedline
8. install spark plugs
9. do magical honda engine start dance
10. place ecu fuse back in
11. start

Yea man, i know how ou feel about not wanting to mess your new engine up. But this is just one of those instances where you have to bite the bullet and do it. I couldnt get any oil coming out of my feed line either. I tried countless amounts of times but it just never came out. I finally had a friend come over and start it while i was looking the engine over. Well in about four seconds i was douched with oil It came out with avengance. I dont know why...but this has only ever happened to me with a freshly built engine on its first start. If the car is using an old engine the oil will always come out while cranking. It prolly jsut takes alot of time and pressure to fill up all the oil galleys in the head and block. In some cases the minute amount of pressure you get while cranking might not be enough to "force" the oil in all the passages. I dont know if this is true...just a guess.
Either way, go crank it as soon as you get the fuel pump running. Youre gonna be scared as expletive...everyone is. Im even scared sometimes when im working on someone elses car
BTW-The fuel pump doesnt need to prime for the car to run. It just helps it get started faster. Does it run when you put battery voltage to it? My main relay was going out and my pump never primed...but it always ran. It was just slow to start. Put battery voltage to it and see if it runs. If so then start that bitch up and report back. Good luck man

I was going to reccomend cranking it for 45 seconds without the ECU fuse, but that works too.

Well I went to fire it up.
Doesnt start. I can smell gas, then notice its leaking from injector 1. Tighten the rail a bit, leak solved. Try again. Nothing.
I looked at my dizzy cap, noticed it was cracked in one spot. Luckily I had another distributor lieing around, throw it on. Check plug wire order.
Turn the key...
Fires up.
1 second
nothing
2 seconds
nothing
3 seconds
nothing
4 seconds
needle twitch?
5 seconds
7ish psi
Shut it down.
Woo! We have oil! I get out and my dad says that as soon as it fired oil started coming out of my feed line.
Im so incredibly relieved right now. I was literally shaking before I started it. lol

Ya well Im not one to jump the gun on things that I cant afford to replace especially when Im being told opposite things depending who I talk to.
Oh well.. Im glad it worked. Now I just hope I dont run into any more problems.

yay for me not seeing this thread in realtime. same thing happened to my built D. 30-40seconds of crank without plugs and i just built enough pressure to turn the stock gauge off. fired up first go and was very sweet.
