Some input on the low power please....sigh
Ok I got my car back today. It was tuned on the dyno for 5 hours when I had the turbo installed. Then tuned again on the dyno for a full day. I am only getting 220whp at 8psi. Can some suggest anything as to why I am making so little power? I will put a dyno up when I get it. Here is what I have.
My car has ACT Xtreme, Fidanza flywheel, Skunk2 cam gears, AEM EMS, 550cc RC injectors, AEM fuel rail, AEM fuel filter, AEM fpr, Tial wastegate, Tial bov, Turbxs manual hpbc, walbro intank fuel pump, colder NGK spark plugs, egt gauge, boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, and Greddy turbo timer.
I am seriously consider switching the AEM for Hondata to see if it makes a difference. I know my turbo is suppose to be more efficient at 10 to 12 psi but isn't 220 too low? The turbo is T3/T04E .63 A/R turbine housing stage III turbine .60 A/R compressor housing 57 trim compressor wheel. Manifold is Maxrev.

Assuming you have the stock cat removed the entire set up looks fine...
Sorry but I will give you 3 possibilities...
1) too low boost
2) bad tuner? i dunno
3) the dyno*
* there are two types dynos a 'mustang dyno' and another one I cant remember the name (hopefully someone will read this and provide more info on, this I would like to know too) ...anyhow one of the dynos puts out lower hp numbers but is actually more reminiscent of actual hp output

Re: Some input on the low power please....sigh (SO3Burner)
This is on a 97 base Prelude. Torque is 214. It's been tuned by two different tuners (both recommended for AEM). I still have the cat on. Could the cat and 2.25" exhaust really hurt my power that much? I was thinking I should be around 250 even if I had the stock exhaust on. Anyone running a similar setup with Hondata? I would like to know what type of power you are getting (on a Prelude that is).
I am really at the end of my ropes as I was making 180 with Crower cams before. Now I've spent around $7500 for a 40whp gain. I want try one more thing (anything), and then pull everything out if I can't get some more power.

i got 250whp and 239 ft/lbs torque with a very similar setup last year.
i had my cat punched out and a 2.5 inch exhaust system.
have you tried adjusting your cam gears?

Ok its probably not the tuners...
Dont replace the exhaust...but replacing the cat for a test pipe will free up hp.
try adj cam gears too

Ok I'll try the cam gears and see what it does. It's on 0,0 right now. Any good place point to start from?

Dude are you still running the crower cams, if you are then thats your problem to much exhaust overlap your not making full use of the boost. Put back in the stock cams, even if you tune the crowers using the cam gears they will not be as good a your stock cams for turbo applications. That will definitely be the problem. N/A cams not good for FI. Goodluck

A good place on the cam gears to start from is 2 degree retarded on the exhaust, and 2 degrees advanced on the intake. That should dial out some overlap, as well as help with better exhaust sacvaging give slightly better spool up times.

Re: Some input on the low power please....sigh (DLB1994)
Hey boosted hybrid, you think there will be overlap even on stock cams?
DLB1994, I don't have the dyno chart yet, but when it was dyno tested before, it did kinda level out at 5500rpm. I'll have to see if it's different on the new dyno chart.
