i'd have them just start it up and idle it once in a while. my friend (shaved door handles and trunk) left for the navy and now, his car needs to be moved, but the battery died and his door poppers dont work, and we'll have to break a window to get in.

Yeah man, I would say just drive it around the block every now and then fpr 10-15 minutes. You dont want the same gas sitting in there forever, and you want to keep it moving.
You're going to have to bite the bullet and let 'em take a few spins every now and then

put fuel stabilizer in the tank. you can get it most any parts store. definately will save the fuel system. bought a motorcycle that sat for several years with it in the tank and it ran right after i put a battery in it.

just reach up underneath where the hood cable is and grab it and pop the hood that way and replace the battery....dont break a window

i was watching shade tree mechanic one time and they squarted some type of oil in the cylinders and did that fuel treatment stuff. and if i were you i would just disconnect the battery and if you can put the car on jack stand or just high enough that the car is not putting all the weight on the tires. (if you do that let some air out of the tires so they dont crack) also make sure you car is completly sealed of water. if some leaks in, by the time you get back you will be able to harvest some penicillin.

There's a FAQ about winterizing a car in the How-to section of my website. It's more or less the same thing.
IMO, if your parents aren't able to help you drive the car once in a while (get the car up to operating temps), don't start it at all.

My dad left the keys in the car when he moved it and I locked it without looking....now its sitting outside with the keys in the ignition....what can I do to get inside? I'm willing to break the window if I have to, because the locksmith will probably cost more cash anyway. How much is a replacement window gonna run anyway. It's an 89 CRX. Sorry for the OT post....

other option
-jack up front and hit the hood release from under car, then charge battery

i left my car sitting for 6 months qand what i did was put fuel stabilizer int he tank and, put it on 4 jackstand so the wheels bearings so did meesed up and the tires dont flat spot. Also, another goot thing to do is drain the oil or atleat put new oil in there.
Just my suggestions. hope this helps.

about 30-40 bcks...lo t cheaper than a new window
Yep, my friend has an 89 crx that he just bought that needed a window and he was just finding it for like $160. He finally found a junkyard outside of town and got it for $50. Damn, he only paid $300 for the car. lol
