Default sohc turbo...safe to run stock dsm boost pressures stock internals?

on any relatively good condition d-series engine (92+ DX/EX/etc.).. how safe is it to run the stock boost pressures of the 14B and T25 turbos from eclipses? i mean ive seen many examples from people at homemadeturbo.com and such -- im just worrying and over-thinking about it (its my bad habit)

im assuming with proper engine management its do-able? or is it a 'better' idea to mess with the actuator to turn down the boost to a safer 6-8psi?

thanks for any help

maybe i should just take my friends advice "don't worry.. you can replace your motor for like 200 or less"

my friend did 11psi on his bone stock d16a6 with a 14b for a long time with just an afc for tuning, but it was never dyno tuned

Just remember the 14b flows a tad bit more than the t-25. I'd have to say 10-11 psi on a t25 safely, and maybe 7-8 on a 14b.

14b stock is set at 8-9psi,on dsm its 12-13psi cause of the computer. first motor i turbo was a 1.5 with the 14b , on a highway run it overboosted to 14psi and it blew in about seconds rods are super weak they all flew out the block. so 12psi on a dx is def a bad idea unless its built, a zc motor will most likely handle it due to the bigger LS style rods.but tunning will also play a big role

It's not the boost level, but the power level. Once you start going 200whp and up, is when it gets iffy with the D series rods. This is, of course, with the right management. And remember, the stock MAP sensor can only read up to 10 or so psi.
