Default SOHC turbo

one quick question, i just invested a nice chunck of cash on a RSR ex-mag exhaust, so can i use that exhaust with a turbo pushing around 9-10 psi? its a 60MM exhaust... thanks -jOn

3" piping isn't REQUIRED but anything smaller becomes a bottleneck when u start to run higher boost/make more power. i ran 2.5" on my d16 turbo and it was fine... but then again i never ran over 10psi. 3" will shorten spoolup time as well

Exactly. I say 3" if you are running larger amounts of boost. 1 bar or more is for sure needed if you can afford it. Bigger is almost always better when turboing a car.

Yea, 2.5 will be fine.. I've decided to go 3" on my sohc turbo even though I'll only be running 10lbs for now. Then if I decide to build the motor I won't have to worry about the exhaust.

Look around at summit for an exhuast swith T or Y pipe. Run your exhaust for daily, and have a remote switch or mechanical switch to open up your exhaust system AT the downpipe before the CAT. This will give you best turbo performance and longevity when your racing or tuning. The exhaust will not only run chances of hurting your power, but it will cause backpressure to your turbo which not only creats wasted energy in heat, it tries to backspool you turbo and damages it over time. THis will allow you to run a legal exhaust and a open downpipe dump for racing/tuning.
