Default Turbo exhaust

i'm planning to go boost but i have a tie up with what exhaust i should get. i been searching and see that thermal 3" exhaust are pretty loud...i realli like the way the greddy sp2 looks and sounds...but i was wondering is the piping size goin to reduce my power alot.

Whats your setup? How much power are you planning on making? That is important in considering piping size. Im making around 230whp and use 2.5" turbo back. Also you will notice turbo cars as a whole are more quiet than NA.

Sorry but I think 250whp is a little too optimistic on only 5psi, even on a gsr.

Bump your compression to like 12.1 or higher and you could do it with 5 psi and a good turbo

I've seen 270hp at the wheels on 5psi before using a t04x. This was dyno'ed at AEBS in San Diego back in 2000.

Yeah it's definitely possible, but how many internal mods and how much tuning did it take to make that much HP on 5 pounds? Was it like a Supra that they turned the boost down on or something o.O

Well if your concerned about loudness, I would wither run a Custom 2.5 " setup or maybe the GReddy peII(2.75")

This was on a 95 GSR with stock internals running with basic inline pump/12:1 fmu 3inch exhaust. This was back in the days before Hondata was really mainstream. There really wasn't much tuning involved.

i run a full 3" exhaust with high flow cat, resonator and Magnaflow muffler. Its a LOT quieter than i thought it would be, when cruising its pretty much as quiet as the stocker.

poid, how much did it cost you total to run your exhaust? That is my plan right now.

I'm running the exact same configuration as you are except mine is 2.5" all the way back. Made 254 hp and 187 tq @ 10psi

I think it's quiet compared to lot's of other hondas I've heard with exhausts. A 3" probably wouldn't be much louder, but I would imagine that it could get slightly annoying at times.

Ever think of adding a resonator?
