Default ::SOHC turbo ???::

ok well i was going to get a B20z swap and then turbo but i was ripped off of 1000.00 so i'm stuck. its either get a swap or turbo what i have. my D16y8 has about 120.000 miles on it. i was thinking about replacing all gaskets. doing fuel and turbo kit and FMIC... etc.. but what should i worry about as far as turboing and engine with that many miles..and rebuild... any imput would rock. thanxx

p.s. oh i'll need a new tranny with plans of a stage 3 clutch!!

Nice avatar.
About your question, have a compression test done to see what shape the motor is in. If that comes out ok then project turbo is a go!

You should be able to boost that motor for awhile. Do a comp test first to see how good it is and just change the oil a little more often.

i'd say swap if you don't want to run into financing as much l8er on. but hey if turbo is go and that's what you want, go for it but boost safely

yeah, just check your compression, get a FULL tune-up, and boost the d-series. if it blows, pick up another for $800 and slap it in! i loved being boosted. Great feeling, awesome power, unbeatable sound. I'm selling my kit if you're interested. but definitely turbo the "sock"----it's a great little midget motor that has more potential than most care to believe.

i agree... most over look the D... but oh well. i was ripped off of 1000.00 for a B20 so i have to untilize what i have. as far as the full tune up... i'm going to replace most off alot. getting a new tranny and clutch(stage3) plugs and wires. fuel pump/rail/injectors etc... i'm still studying up on it but the tranny and clutch are a must now... syncros=toast

Well if you feel the need to boost. I just posted my turbo setup for sale. This will fit your y8.
You'll just need to custom fit the dp and exhaust.
