sohc stock bottom end with a built head..what can i safely rev too????
like the title says i have a stock z6 bottom end, contemplating picking up a p&p head with a zex 59300 cam and crower springs and retainers, what can a z6 bottom end spin to safely??? not sure if its worth going with a built head or if im going to need a built bottom end to reap the benefits. anyone with some input???

How big are your *****? I know people that rev to 8-8.5k on stock Z6 motors, but it's going to put a lot of stress on those tiny rods. If it was me I wouldn't go past 8k or so, but I would probably just wait until the bottom end was built to be safe.

I wouldn't go much above the stock rev limit because of the weak stock rods and the chance of throwing a rod bearing.

hrmm, im beginning to think even buying a built head is a waste of money when i can just turn up the boost and make more power. i was revving my completely stock d15b to 7800, but im in the midst of swapping in a z6. do you think i could rev the stock head of a z6 to 7800 or does the longer stroke make it a pig up top?
