Default Smoking problem

Hey everyone,

I never posted here before because I usually search and always find my answer but now i'm stuck and i cannot figure it out. I have a 99 civic si with a sleeve fully built ls-v. It has around 1k miles and it just recently started smoking a lot. I did a compression test and it was between 185-195psi, ( CP 9-7-1 pistons) and the leak down test was all around 10% which I think is good for having bigger ring gaps. The problem I'm having is the car is smoking at idle, and driving. It a lot of smoke and i'm stuck. I had the turbo checked and it the turbo is fine. There is oil coming out of the number 3 and 4 exhaust port and I also notice that between the t4 flange and the turbo it has oil reside right around there. It is smoking really bad and cannot figure out. Any ideas?

Seems like bad valve seals would be the culprit being that you have oil leaks out of exhaust ports.

Could it be head gasket leaking oil? Does sound like bad valve stem seals, could even have worn guides helping the oil going into the combustion chamber.

yeah i was thinking it was the valve seal. some people were saying ring but i didn't think so. I didn't think valve seals would smoke at idle and while driving though. I am located in Florida. I also didn't think valve seals smoke really bad. when i rev it, the smoke could fill my entire garage lol

You should have the guides checked also to be sure you do not get the same problem over a few months.

If that happens though wouldn't that scar up the cylinder walls and the compression test would be low? I first thought my head gasket was bad so i replaced the head gasket and i looked in the cylinder walls. Looked good to me when i had the head off. I'm having my valve seals checked out this weekend and go from there. Thanks for the response!

my compression was perfect before i took the motor apart even my leakdown test was good but my 2 compression rings were still on so thats why the readings show up normal, i took the motor apart because of the oil coming out the exhaust.
i know u dont wanna tear it down but look at the bright side u can inspect the motor and see if bearings etc. are good.

Oil rings could also fail and cause oil pumping.
But it is most likely the stem seals.

so i figured out the issue. I have a borg warner s366 t4 twin scroll. All i did was put an oil restrictor in it because i saw oil in my intercooler piping and the smoke went away. Everyone told me that i am not suppose to run a restrictor on that turbo? Have anyone else have this issue?
