Default Smoking at idle. Fresh rebuild

About a week ago I detonated and ls/vtec. Cracked a sleeve and there was a huge cloud of smoke and coolant when I blew it. I got a new block, bearings, rings, gaskets etc... I reused the pistons and rods since there was no damage.

Question is. I started it today and took it for a test drive not hitting any boost. When I am parked it starts to smoke out the exhaust. It's like a white but does not smell like coolant. It smells like a 2 stroke. So if it didn't smoke before the crack sleeve why would it now?

I did some research and some say valve seals and some say it's the turbo.

I didn't change anything on the head.

I will look in the intercooler piping and see if there is some oil but anyone have any other similar problems?

The oil drain is on the top of the oil pan and is not kinked.

This is a b18a1 with a b16 head

Well you get a bit of smoke on a fresh rebuild typically.

Put some miles on the engine and see if it goes away.

i have a similiar problem. b16a turbo. i would only smoke at idle, but when i put load on it the smoke clears. i think it could be 2 reason. 1 your valve seals or 2 if you have turbo then it might be your turbo seal unless you have a oil restrictor, or it can be running rich, or last your oil return line is kinked. but on my car i leaning towards valve seals

no he said it dont smell of coolant , but there can be oil in the exhaust making it smell like gas and oil. my car always smokes a little at idle, its been doing it for thousands of miles.

If you can take the spring out of the WG, then do that. Put in your stock injectors and ecu and ramp up the rpms to help break in the rings while putting some load on the motor. Don't take it to readline, but I think 5K rpms is good enough with some healthy acceleration to put load on the rings. I think your motor just needs a retune and rings seated.

Well I drove it for about another 10 miles and the smoke cleared. I am going to drive it about 500 miles within the three days as well.

Wouldn't bad valve seals and/or bad turbo seals smoke consistently? I'm asking b/c ever since I did my turbo build, I've always smoked at idle, but not during driving or idle after driving.
