Weird engine smoke not all the time??????? Please Help.
Ok here is my setup. I have a gsr block, b16a pistons and b16a2 head. I rebuilt the block and put the pistons in about a year ago, but i did not rebuild the head, it has 139k on the head. My problem is since i put a high flow cat on my car I have been noticing more smoke. I don't lose coolant and i'm not running very rich, but i do go through oil about three quarts every oil change. Here are my symptoms, when i sit at a stop light and leave it will puff a little smoke, people tell me its grayish but it has to be blue because that is what i'm low on oil. Now if I drive on the highway for like an hour or so and floor it, i will have a big cloud of smoke behind me. When i let off the throttle and cruise for a bit its fine. If i step on it again not too long afterwards, its fine no smoke at all. It is almost like it builds up when i'm driving then when i step on it once it will clean it out. I am confused because at wot, smoking is a sign of bad rings, but smoke at idle shows bad valve seals. It doesn't smoke all the time at wot just once after i have been driving at partial throttle for a while. I only really started to notice this since i put my high flow cat on, pretty much a test pipe. Does anyone have any advice for me, I can't figure it out.
Thanks for any advice.

Ok Since all the bottom end is fresh and you didn't have any signs of blow by for ?? how many miles. then we can rule that out maybe. your head is most likely the problem and yes the valve seals are going to be the problem maybe. or you are getting alot of oil into the intake Via the small hose that goes to the valve cover check there first and in the Intake? What type of pistons did you in stall Compression Ratio is ??? then we can go from there!

no signs of blow by the hose at the top of the valve cover is suckin air in, when i blew up my previous motor that was turbo it was definetly blowin air out, this is not the case now
