Default SMIC or no IC?

i want to build a street car that has no sign of a turbo, i decided on a smic because it is low profile and is allowed in my budget, now lets say is a 1g talon SMIC gonna help me out or should i just save te piping and run the boost straight to the mani
my setup:
2.4L
ct26 turbo
DSM bov

I got my SMIC for $40, which is way too much to pay for one. It's WAY better than nothing and can support up to 200whp safely and fairly efficienty if at least part of it receives direct airflow

why not hide it behind a mesh grill? I personally wouldn't waste my time or money trying to use a side mount intercooler on a car that doesn't have the proper ducting for it, it's a waste.......
Imo fmic is the only way to go...........I also wouldn't sacrifice my engine by using an inercooler thats not very efficient, just cause i want to be descrete.....

the eclipse 1G and 2G SMICs are VERY effiecient...many DSMs have gone into the 12s/300hp range with them. of course an FMIC would be better, but for a start, an SMIC is the way to go IMO.

[RANT]Where do you get your information? DSM guys are running as much as 21 psi on their STOCK sidemounts, up to 300whp. Most all Hondas use the intake resonator duct to run the SMIC pipes. With the greddy turbo kit for instance, the SMIC PERFECTLY replaces the pipe in between the charge pipe where the BOV is and the lower IC pipe coming off the turbo. Realize that 80% of the guys with turbo hondas are making less than 250whp, and the DSM SMIC is fine for that application.

I'm tired of seeing guys with 145-200whp setups like me using a 500WHP capable greddy Type-24 so they can run 5 psi. Pathetic, utter overkill and useless for most of the setups you see here on H-T. [/RANT]

Run 2 smic, one on each side if you can fit them, or a liquid to air and a small heat exchanger. I wouldn't run with out one, though some people do.

i agree, i see alot of ppl running 7psi on a skyline core, i plan to run about 220whp you think the 1g dsm IC will be worthless? if theres a way to get fresh air to it ?

The DSM sidemount is about perfect for 220whp.

I don't know if it is necessary, just an option if you want to make more power in the future - I just thought it was ghetto fabulous lol.

I stuffed a Saab IC under the hood with no clear airflow. Just the heat radiating from it made a killer difference! Definately do something in the wake of an IC....

I never said the intercooler itself is worthless, but placing it behind a bumper that has little or no direct airflow to the intercooler is pointless.............

very efficient when placed correctly....and has proper airflow to it

if you want sleeper, go with a water to air intercooler. all you can see from the outside is a radiator.

better yet, convert that DSM SMIC to water, like i'm doing
