Default SMIC???

Okay ive been lookin for the sleeper type of intercooler routing. And recently found out about tucking a smic inside the engine bay. I was wondering how much psi this is capable of or safe for, i plan on routing a vent or duct from the bottom of the smic to the front of the grill to give it a little more airflow. I was hoping to do this on a stock zc 14b on 8-10psi on turbo edit. Is the smic in that position okay for 8-10psi? please let me know thanks

I would say yes. It's just not getting direct ram air but it will work

It'll work but you'd be better off with a front mount sprayed with black radiator paint. I can't find the pictures I had of my old setup, but unless you crawled right up next to the car you couldn't tell it was there.

Are you running A/C? Another option would be to put the sidemount where the condenser used to be? (I'm assuming you have a Civic)

or make a new mount and run a Cosworth INtercooler its like 25" wide. 16" tall and 2" thick. would be a perfect sleeper style intercooler. just have to make a custom bracket to mount it and to mount it next to the radiator.

You could also consider running the SMIC in the passenger side fender, where the stock resonator box was. This is about where an Audi has the stock SMIC, is out of the way, and will receive decent airflow that hasn't gone through the hot radiator (like inside the engine bay would).

Get a DSM sidemount and throw it where the A/C condenser used to be. Then if people ask just tell them it has an intake, exhaust and still has A/C, so it can't be fast.

A Supra Sidemount would be even more effective. The DSM sidemount is only good to about 220whp. We've done that in the past, and even the DSM guys go to the Supra sidemount

Word, I'm not too familiar with the limits of sidemounts, I just went straight to a huge *** Precision intercooler. I do know that DSM sidemounts are cheap as [freak] though.
