smell of coolant when boosting. problem? yes? no?

smell of coolant when boosting. problem? yes? no?

i smell burning coolant occasionally when boosting and i'm worried something is wrong.
i'm boosting about 5-7 on a stock d16 motor
any ideas?

is your coolant level decreasing? if so, then i would look into it, but if its not overheating, then its not a major problem. god luck.

definately not overheating. temp shows at horizontal, and no visible signs of leaking or anything...

check to make sure your turbo hot side piping isnt near or touching your coolant lines. I had that problem with the smell and a week or so later I had a hole in one coolant line.. Good luck

I had the same problem a few months ago after I got my engin rebuilt...it turned out to be the smell of new thermal wrap burning in...do a search for "pancakes"
