Default SMC vs. SMC+

Whats the difference between the two and which one is better because i have the original SMC but havent used it yet?

the original has 4 rpm ranges, where the plus has about 8 rpm ranges, so you can tune it more finely. theres an smc 500 or something coming out that will be in 500 rpm increments.
